There was a little hesitancy surrounding the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s classic clown murdering epic. The Dark Tower didn’t really perform well and we all know how adaptations can be rocky at the best of times. However, It performed wonderfully, first with critics and now it’s also dominating the box office. It made $123 million during its opening run and hasn’t stopped since then.
What’s interesting is that the movie has is quickly becoming the highest grossing Stephen King adaptation yet, and Stephen King is, well, the king of movie adaptations. The one to beat is The Green Mile that has grossed a total of $136 million.and It is well on its way to crush that number. With more word-of-mouth and further coverage like we’re giving it now, it will only climb more. It has also become the highest grossing horror movie during its opening weekend as well.
It’s wonderful to see It is performing so well because the adaptation world has faced a lot of hardships in the last decade or so. The sequel will probably be a full-on bombshell and most of us can’t wait for that.
