After Hollywood recently faced a slur of prominent actors, directors, and film associated figures being accused of Sexual Harassment (and other charges), it’s become a little hard to keep track of them all.
A new online database aims to change this. Rotten Apples lets you search for a film and displays a nice list of results, giving you exactly who appears in your film that might be guilty of sexual misconduct or perhaps something worse.
While the database itself does require some work to smooth the edges, I think it’s still a great idea. Not all of us want to continue supporting the work of people who are truly unworthy of admiration or the limelight. As an example of where things could improve on the site though — I managed to find Kevin Spacey in Baby Driver but searching older films such as Disney’s Hercules, didn’t deliver relevant results such as James Woods. It seems there’s still some work to be done before everything is exactly right.
These are early days for the site and it’s a work in progress. Rotten Apples will get better as the bugs are ironed out… hopefully.
