Suicide Squad was many things, most of them being bad, but Margot Robbie breathed some new life into Harley Quinn’s iconic character. She was more brazen, independently strong and exuded a particular kind of charm in her own unique way. It was a shame that the movie where she made her debut was a steaming pile of detached garbage, but Robbie has been at work trying to give the character the spotlight she deserves.
Speaking to MTV, Robbie said that she has been hard at work on a standalone Harley Quinn movie for the last two years. The movie will apparently feature a gang of women under Harley’s leadership as Robbie said that “while we were filming Suicide Squad, I was like, ‘She needs her girlfriends'” and is planning to have the gaggle of anarchists be a focus of the movie. Robbie has been taking her new role very seriously because she’s currently planned for four future movies as the character including the Suicide Squad sequel, a movie focused on the Joker and Harley and a movie about the Gotham City Sirens.
We’ll be seeing a lot more of then plunky bad girl with the bat in the next few years and Robbie will probably start terrorising her family because she will basically become Harley at this rate. Let’s just hope they bump up the quality.
